Here at GnD, we are on the door step of Bluewater and during the Christmas period the traffic is visible from our shop window some evenings and we watch in dismay at the people driving their cars stressing about those last minute gift grabs. It’s not always a negative having Bluewater on your doorstep, when it comes to ‘popping’ out for something it is extremely handy and with the wide array of shops on offer, great places to eat, Cinema and now even Jump Giants it can even be a whole day out. An adventure with the kids if you fancied braving the boats, the climbing wall or adventure playground.
The Boxing Day Sales kicked off at Bluewater and as per usual we watched as the buses left Bluewater full of shoppers and full of shopping bags! The Next Sale is always a busy one and we heard that people had arrived well before the shops were even open in hopes of grabbing a bargain. To be honest, I am not one that is fussed by the Sales at all, I cannot deal with the busyness of it all and the hoards of people. I would much rather be in the comfort of the Salon listening to our lovely clientele telling me about their antics as they attempted to hit the shops.
We had a lovely customer in this week who made us all chuckle, she had forgotten that the Sales we on and headed to Bluewater on Boxing Day (after googling to see if it was open) when she arrived she couldn’t quite get over how busy it was and still was not aware of the Boxing Day Sales. She visited one shop only and it took almost 90 minutes, hot, flustered and looking forward to getting out of the madness, she left the store and headed back to the busy car park. When she got to where she believed she had left her car it was no where to be seen. Panic set in and she called her Husband and began to explain that she thought the car had been stolen. Rambling at him for a minute and tears reaching her eyes her Husband then burst into laughter. She began screaming at him “It’s not funny, don’t laugh”, to then a lightbulb do the ‘clink’ – She had jumped on the bus to go to Bluewater as her Son had asked to borrow the car that Morning to go and watch the Football. The chaos of the shops had got to her and sent her as barmy as those queuing at 6am in the Next Sale. We had such a laugh listening to her story, we look forward to hearing of many more!
