The other half and I went to The Orchard Theatre in Dartford to see Derren Litten’s Benidorm Live. It was a cheesy as you can imagine but a fantastic show and very entertaining. Having been a Benidorm fan whilst it was on ITV for the last 10 years, I was keen to see the Live show as a final farewell as the writer and creator Derren Litten announced last year that the show had finished and he would not be writing anymore. After an eventful 10 series, it provided us with laughter and tears. Derren has decided to focus on other projects and rumour has it he is writing a new sitcom on families that Holiday in Scarborough. Whatever it is, you just know it will be great with his magic touch to any script.
Derren has been around for years, originally writing with Catherine Tate for her hit show. He also penned Sky One’s The Spa which starred many famous faces, many of which he calls his Best Friends. Can you tell I am a huge fan of his?!
The Orchard Theatre hasn’t changed much since I first went there aged 16 to see a production of Grease. It is so handy to have a Theatre on our doorstep and it shows many of the great West End shows when they go on tour. I noticed that Oliver and The Worst Witch are due to start very soon and Samantha Womack is due to star on the stage there soon in The Girl on the Train. That is definitely one to watch as the Book and Hollywood Film starring Emily Blunt were huge hits.
To check out what is on at The Orchard Theatre pick up one of their leaflets in the Theatre itself, there is parking opposite and in The Orchard Shopping Centre. With Half Term net week and the Weather unpredictable The Orchard could be a great shout for you and the kids for some Entertainment on your doorstep.
